Martha Cantrell
Dr. Martha Cantrell is a Nashville native and serves as the Executive Principal of Hull Jackson Montessori Magnet in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Her tenure within the district spans 29 years of service with 18 of those in leadership and administration. Dr. Cantrell has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Trevecca Nazarene University in the School of Education teaching courses for the B.A., M.A., and Ed.S. programs. Her career has led to opportunities to serve as Legislative Liaison for the TN Principals Association, MNPS Director’s Advisory Board, Keynote Speaker on Educational Paradigms in Guangzhou, China, Global Education Board Member, and 4:13 Strong Board Member.
In addition, Dr. Cantrell has also been the owner of various businesses outside the educational field. Over the course of 30 years, ownership of a large landscaping company with a $2 million budget, a construction company with a $500,000 budget, a trucking company with a $3 million budget, and in her current position, management of a $5 million budget. All of these have allowed for perspective in business and social sectors including extensive knowledge of economic and educational resources and opportunities within our community.
Finally, Dr. Cantrell has 3 adult children who are extremely successful in their careers which is the most valuable measure of success to date. There are so many quotes and mottos that could encompass the thoughts and passion that make up Dr. Cantrell’s drive…treat others the way you want to be treated, trust the process and plan, everything happens for a reason, and continually asking what did I learn from this.
